Transcription: Activation by cooperating conformations
The cooperative formation of a higher-order complex between transcription factors NFAT and Fos-Jun is accompanied by conformational changes in both DNA and protein. This allows formation of an extended interface between the proteins, while conserving recognition of the core DNA binding sequences.
متن کاملWAVE regulatory complex activation by cooperating GTPases Arf and Rac1.
The WAVE regulatory complex (WRC) is a critical element in the control of actin polymerization at the eukaryotic cell membrane, but how WRC is activated remains uncertain. While Rho GTPase Rac1 can bind and activate WRC in vitro, this interaction is of low affinity, suggesting other factors may be important. By reconstituting WAVE-dependent actin assembly on membrane-coated beads in mammalian c...
متن کاملFunctional investigation of the BRCA1 Val1714Gly and Asp1733Gly variants by computational tools and yeast transcription activation assay
Mutations in the BRCA1 gene are known to be a major cause of hereditary breast cancer. However, characterizing the point mutationsassociated with cancer in BRCA1 is challenging because the functional impact of most of them is still unknown. Nowadays, a variety of methods are employed to identify cancer-associated mutations in BRCA1. This study is aimed to ass...
متن کاملLearning by Cooperating Agents
Most algorithms for learning and pattern discovery in data assume that all the needed data is available on one computer at a single site. This assumption does not hold in situations where a number of independent databases reside on different nodes of a network. These databases cannot be moved to a common shared site due to size, security, privacy, legal, and data-ownership concerns but all of t...
متن کاملTranscription activation by catabolite activator protein (CAP).
Transcription activation by Escherichia coli catabolite activator protein (CAP) at each of two classes of simple CAP-dependent promoters is understood in structural and mechanistic detail. At class I CAP-dependent promoters, CAP activates transcription from a DNA site located upstream of the DNA site for RNA polymerase holoenzyme (RNAP); at these promoters, transcription activation involves pro...
